Can you mount the GX120 Aluminum Capstan to the motor without a gear reduction?
Submitted by: adam
If you mount the GX120 Aluminum Capstan without the gear reduction it will be spinning the same speed as the engine: which will be to fast.

What is the longest continuous pull the electric motor can perform before overheating and how long does it need to rest between maximum pulls?
Submitted by: scott stevenson
They are not continuous duty electric motors. 8-10 minutes of continuous operation is about maximum - standard pulls are 300-600 feet. How long the motor takes to cool down is dependent upon the environment. They work well for guys in Alaska (deep water) pulling shrimp. If you are looking for continuous duty, you need to look at a hydraulic pot pulling option.
I would like to know what gear motor to use on my crab pot puller.

You will need to tell me a bit more about the setup… Are you asking what reduction gear you would use for a gas motor to run a capstan? Are you asking about what hydraulic motor you would use?
