You will need to replace the complete helm unit.
OMC Steering - 1973
Hi there, I need to replace the steering cable on my 1973 Seabird V24, with an OMC Sterndrive 225. The cable goes through the transom via a ball, and clamps onto the outside of the outdrive. I have a picture of the steering set up I can send you if that will help. Do you have this in stock? Many thanks, -Tom Submitted by: Hottub Tom
You will need to remove the complete system. All you use over is the clam shells to hold the ball. You get a new cable, helm unit, ball kit and steering wheel. Once you have removed the system you can measure the cable.

Need to replace a steering cable for an early 80 model 115 horse johnson, boat is a mid 70’s model i believe, starcraft maybe not sure on that, its my dads, numbers are tx 10 ft k3 on cable, it is pipe threaded on at either end and just shoves up in the steering wheel and the wheel pulls it in when you turn it, goes through a tube mount and connects to the motor, at the helm end, via a small ball joint which screws loose from the cable, wouldnt know where i need to look would you? i dunno if i have a rack and pinion a rotary or what, i was searching but i cant tell from the pictures, and the part no. on the cable doesnt bring up anything at various sites, any help would be appreciated, i hate to make a guess and have to send the thing back, thanks in advance Submitted by: dreamweaver76
Do you have any parts for Morse tilt helm?
I have a 1992 Campion 290 with a Morse tilt steering.The plastic or neoprene planetary gear with 4 fins, about 1 1/4" in diameter is missing one of the fins.

Morse parts are no longer available. You will have to find a used one or replace the steering system. Teleflex does make a variety of Replacement Steering Systems.
