Looking for an alternative to the standard (and broken) hatch holder
I am looking for an alternative to the standard (and broken) hatch holder I have for a Bayliner Rendezvous walk down head on a deck boat. It weighs about 15+ lbs. I was looking at wither a Natalift set up or WHitecap Spring Hatch Holder. What would you recommend. I want something that will hold the hatch open without to much pressure, but be easy for kids to handle. Submitted by: Tim
Installing a Lewmar #44 Hatch...
I am installing a new hatch on my J/35 cabin top which is curved. I need to build up a "flange" to make it flat. The approach I was going to take is to create a form and build up an epoxy wall that I will then wrap in fiberglass and tab into the deck. Is this a prudent approach? Or, do you have a different approach that I should take? I think my only concern is that the epoxy may not be flexible enough and could crack. Any insights would be most appreciated. Do you know what hatch model you have? Fortunately, nearly every Bomar hatch handle is still being made. You will have to identify the model of the hatch.
