Which boat anchor?
Hi I have a question what boat anchor should I get for a 20 ft pontoon boat. In pretty calm waters. Alum creek in Ohio. I would like to try to keep the cost down.

In the situation as described, a small Danforth Anchor would fit the bill and be inexpensive. Either the 8 or 14 pound.
Anchors
I’m looking for a product that you added to your anchor line. It’s a big ball with a couple D rings. So you back up and it pulls the anchor to the ball and you just pick up.

Folding Grapnel anchor vs Danforth
I’ve never seen or known of anybody to use this Grapel Anchor. What size would you recommend for a CRRC 16’ boat? How well do these anchors work in rapid waters - flooding conditions?
Submitted by: Chief
I would suggest using a Danforth (Fortress) style anchor with a shackle on the end. I would then use a throw bag, also with a shackle on the end to use as ’anchor rode’. The 5lb Fortress - it can be tossed far and hooks and anchors to more than a grapnel anchor. A Grapnel that would still be undersized (the 13#) would not hold anything like the Danforth. The Throw Bag used as anchor line - which you could also use as it is - a rescue throw bag. I am sure that you are familiar with them… Using a throw bag. You could also upgrade the rope to 1/4" Spectra at 6600#’s breaking strength. Also available in Spools.
