I have an old 1987 5.7 Mercruiser inboard engine whihc blew a head gasket. I need to know if I can use the head gasket from the auto parts store. Submitted by: robert
A Marine Gasket should be used for any marinized engine. This is spcially true if there is you are using salt water to cool it.

Do I need a marine specific oil filter or will a filter from the auto parts store work? Answer Depending on the engine; I/O, outboard or inboard - when in doubt, you should always use a marine filter. Submitted by: Mike
