omc outdrive for trim?
Im have a 1988 Bayliner 2155 5.7 engine, cobra omc outdrive. Do you use the up and down tilt switch of the outdrive to trim the boat when under way? Or will that harm the outdrive gears?
I had an older 1984 starfire boat and you could not use the outdrive to trim the boat, or it would distroy the gears for the tilt up and down.

The Cobra models can be trimmed. They use hydraulic cylinders for this function. As for a switch, any three position momentary rocker or toggle switch will work.
power tilt slipping slowly down
I have a 1991 Doral Spirit with a 4.3 liter 175 OMC inboard/outboard engine.
After setting the trim on my drive, it slowly drops down and will not stay in place. What part has to be replaced to prevent this from happening and how much will this cost me? Submitted by: william hitzig
Normally you would replace the valve body. It is no longer available so your only option is to re-seal it with a seal kit.
Trim/ Tilt not working
I have a 1992 OMC Cobra. The trim has stopped working so I ran a jumper wire from the battery to the blue wire in an attempt to get the lower unit up. The motor ran but sounded funny and did not raise the unit. What do you think the problem is? Submitted by: Ray
If the motor does not spin fast enough it won’t build enough pressure to raise the drive unit. There is the possibility you have a problem with the pump but the motor is the most common failure.
Trim sender for 1987 omc cobra 4.3 liter engine
Do you have a photo of the Trim sender for 1987 OMC Cobra 4.3 liter engine? I want to match it to mine as the part number stamped on my unit is 911799. I have a 1987 omc cobra with a 4.3 liter engine. Submitted by: Paul
Currently we do not have a picture available but I did check 1987 OMC 4.3 and the number for your trim sender should be 984748. The part number 911799 does not come up as a cross to anything that I can find.
tilt / trim wont go up / down
I have a 1988 OMC Cobra outdrive 350 Mercruiser engine. When I try trim it makes a clicking sound from the relay / circuit breaker area by the carb. Any ideas? Submitted by: craig
