lewmar block replacement
Hi, I have a block (2B9117 stamped on top), used for the mainsheet, that needs to be replaced. My boat is a Beneteau 361, running a 7/16 mainsheet. The block’s shieve (about 2") edge broke and is unrepairable. It appears that this block is no longer available. Do you have a recommendation for obtaining a replacement? Submitted by: Sandy
The sheave edge failed because of one of 2 things - long term exposure to the sun in one position (we are talking years) OR someone hauled a cable edge or smacked some metal against it.
Because this one gets banged lots, there are more than a few options…
The Mid-Range Block - Single #1540, it is strong
The Black Magic 57mm Carbo Blocks are a clean, easy block to use
Carbo Block,57mm Single Swivel # 2600
It is in your specs, just a bit beefier. Stronger than what you had - and lighter. Easy to clean and check the bearings.
There are plenty of Blocks here.
