How can I store my Danforth Anchor on deck?
I can’t find measurements online. My Danforth style anchor’s crown measures 4" in width and must fit into the deck-mounted "saddle". Can you verify that it will? Submitted by: Pete
The deck mounting chocks are made for Danforth anchors less than 20 pounds. I do not know the dimensions of "crowns" of Danforth anchor sizes, but perhaps you can compare yours to anchor dimensions we do have listed.
Length of rope/chain needed for anchoring as per feet of water per foot of chain required
Could you tell me how many feet of rope I would need if the water was say 20 feet deep. or what the ratio is for length to depth of water? My boat is 18 feet long and approximately 3600 pounds empty. Submitted by: Dave
A minimum scope is considered to be 3:1 as measured from the bottom (where your anchor sets) to the height on the deck. If you are in 25’ of water and your bow roller is 5’ above the water, you need 90’ of anchor rode. look at the bottom of the Anchors & Anchoring page. 5:1 is an average scope and 7;1 + is used in bad bottoms, storm conditions etc. In summary, 100’ of rope rode, along with 15’ of chain would be a minimum for your boat.
