I want to replace my steering and would like to know what you recommend 16 ft starcraft w 40hp evendude I now have the old cable and pulley system

There are numbers stamped into the plastic jacket of the cable. They tell the model and length. Look near the engine end.

Looking 4 part # (MFGD teleflex pat no 5253543) It has steel cable going through it to steer. The boat is a 455 bay raider 2001 model.

Any advice on how to remove frozen steering arm from pivot bush on outboard motor. (cable type steering.)

Answer

The best recommendation for a seized part is lots of WD-40 and heat from a torch.

Is this steering still available?

Answer:

This steering cable was used from the late 1970’s thru 1986, and are discontinued from the manufacturer. We recommend using the Uflex system.
