Question
75 horse mariner 1989

Had a new carb installed, motor will only do about 75 percent of full throttle. Is there an adjustment to repair or is the carb faulty? It is a two stroke 1989 75 horse mariner.

Answer

I would check the throttle cable and make sure you have it adjusted correctly.

Question
1995 Mariner 40 Magnum

My motor will not start. I can hear a clicking noise from a part that I cannot identify. The part is a cylinder shape bolted to the engine. It has a gold colored top and the bottom is black plastic. There is one yellow and one black wire leading to the part.

Answer

Sounds like the starter solenoid is not getting enough voltage or current to fully engage. I’d check the voltage on the engine starting battery as a first step before you consider the solenoid.

Question
1996 Wellcraft Coastal 238 that steering oil leaks at the shaft

I have a 1996 Wellcraft Coastal 238 that steering oil leaks at the shaft connected to the outboard Mercury 200 hp engine. The leak is coming from the seal. Is there a place to buy oil seal?

Submitted by: jess guanlao
Answer

It sounds like you have hydraulic steering. If that is the case, we need the number off the cylinder to find the correct seal kit.
