Question
anchor line guide

Is there a hand-held anchor line guide or tool available to guide the anchor rode and chain evenly onto the winch drum during line haul in? I envision something like a hand-held oarlock on a handle that the line/chain can slide through while applying pressure to it left and right.

Thanks

Answer

I do not know of any particular device available for your application. However, I have seen several things used in the past. Some people use a wood or steel two prong fork that will fit over the rode and push the rode to the port or starboard as required. Alternatively the bottom of the fork can fit into a recess providing leverage as it is being pushed down and side to side.

Some folks use a single bar that also can leverage off a holder/recess in the deck and simply lift it up and over the rode as required when wanting to push from the other side. Hope this helps.
