What does the future of electronic
commerce look like for the multi-billion dollar marine products industry? That's the question Go2marine, a division of Mariner Supply Inc., has been
fathoming since it first arrived on the Web in year 2000. Since launching the
world's first online boat parts catalogue with image-mapped, exploded view
diagrams and detailed information pages, the Go2marine online supersite has
grown to over 100,000 products for boaters at http://www.go2marine.com .
The challenge of redesigning the marine megasite has landed on the PC
desktop of Go2marine's new designer, Charlene Slayton, who recently joined the
Bainbridge Island company after six years of intense web design and
development experience for both government agencies and private industry.
"Organization is vital when you have such a vast array of products, many
of which involve customizing the product before you buy," explains Charlene.
"Being a novice boater myself, I've tried to find boat parts and parts for my
engine online. It's been difficult, but has been an ideal learning experience
for what our customers need in order to locate and compare products more
effectively. It's my goal to see that the new Go2marine Website will help
boaters find what they need without frustration."
With her main focus on redeveloping the web site's usability and
convenience, Slayton's next-generation redesign features informational
sections dedicated to help boaters answer questions about particular boating
products.
The Web designer is also launching a manufacturers' advertising
service that will educate consumers about marine products available through
Go2marine. Slayton holds a B.A. in Electronic Media and Communication from the
University of Texas at El Paso.
"Charlene has brought world-class design experience to the Go2marine
team," stated Mariner Supply president, Hal Cook. "We are excited about
bringing a dynamic new look and feel to our customers that makes their
experience on our Website both more enjoyable and more productive." For further information please contact Go2marine at 800 998 9508 or visit
