Installation Note:
Both dongles require that a special software driver be installed prior to connecting them to your computer. The installation of the drivers normally occurs automatically as a part of the Nobeltec 7.0 software installation. However, in the event that you need to obtain an additional copy of these drivers, you can also download them from the Nobeltec website.
Dongle Operation:
Once installed, a dongle should be ‘invisible’ to the user. The Nobeltec software simply checks for existence of the dongle as needed to open new charts.
Special Admiral Note:
Nobeltec Admiral requires that a dongle is present for full software functionality. When using Admiral at home or in the office as a planning tool, you can type the dongle serial number into your Admiral serial number entry screen. However, Admiral does not communicate to any serial ports or other devices without the dongle attached. When running on a network, each copy of Nobeltec Admiral must have its own dongle. The exception to this rule is that one copy of Admiral may be installed on the network as a ‘listener”. The listener does not need a dongle and can get positioning information from another Admiral that contains a dongle. Admiral only allows one listener per network.
Safety Note:
In the event that a dongle is removed during operation, Admiral allows serial communication until its next reboot. As with all Nobeltec software, International chart access is available for two hours once the dongle has been removed. Please insure your dongle and all charts against theft, loss or damage.
