  • X34 90 degree bezel
  • Add a new Steering wheel to your helm kit!

    • To calculate Racktech steering cable length, measure plastic jacket only, add 30 inches, and round up to next foot. Better long than short!

1974 50hp Mercury

I have a 15’ fiberglass boat with a 1974 50hp Mercury outboard. The original 14’ rack and pinion system is not working. Will the 14’ Uflex rack and pinion kit bolt right in and can I still use the original steering wheel. Thank you.

The universal rack and pinion steering system will work fine however you will need to check your steering wheel, it will need to have a tapered shaft with a key way.

Mercury Heavy Duty Ride Guide Steering

I have a 1988 17’ Checkmate with a 135 HP Mercury engine. One of the cables on the dual ride guide system seized up. The cable is marked "Heavy Duty Ride Guide A 13 FT 6 IN 6 17 87". It appears the cable is no longer made. Is there a replacement for it or do I have get a new steering system?

You will need to replace the complete system. You don’t need a dual cable set up, and you may want to go with a no feedback system.
