Steering Cable
My boat is an ’89 Cajun with 40 HP Johnson motor. The steering wheel (rack & pinion)is very difficult to turn. The boat was not used and set out in Texas weather for about 2 years but the cable looks good (no cracks, etc.). I have used penetrants and oils which have helped some. Is there anything I can to do to remedy this problem other than replace the cable? If I need a new one, what is part number & brand? It has "T-150" on the metal rack.

You will have to replace the cable. There is a number stamped into the cable near the engine. It tells the model and length.
