Question
Old mercruiser need replacement trim motor

Hello I have a 1982 Stingray but has a 1972-1982 GM 120 HP engine, 153CID. The trim motor is a 3 wire assembly and has SAE j1171 on stater housing and my motor’s s/n is A331058. I believe this PT440 would be a good replacement. And actually many of the motors I have looked for appear to be similar 12V 3 wire assemblies but want to be sure what I order works. Any help here would be great! Please let me know what you think. Thanks Tim

Answer

If it physically looks like the PT440, then it will be it. The PT440 was used on Mercs for many years, and it is the only one that looks like it.

Question
Trim motor

I have a 1985 120hp Mercruiser and I was wondering if the PT440ABN would work with it. If not, which pump would work with it?

Answer

If yours looks like a PT440 Power Trim Motor with Reservoir (they have several options but only one looks like that) then that will work. If you need a pump to go with it you will need to send yours in for a rebuild. The picture you are looking at is just the motor and reservoir.
