Vetus, Stern Thruster for Transom Mounting, STERN110P. Adapter kits allow a bow thruster drive unit to be adapted for transom mounting. A stern thruster, in combination with a bow thruster, will allow for greater control and safety in locks or harbors. A side-directional thruster in the bow and another side-directional thruster at the transom will increase maneuverability in sidewinds and currents. The motor and the other electric components are fitted internally to the transom of the boat. The tunnel and propeller are installed externally on the transom. It is important that the propeller is submerged well below the waterline for the stern thruster to function correctly. If this is not the case, the propeller may suck air into the tunnel, resulting in considerable loss of thrust. Except for the smallest size, each kit accepts several different drive units.

These stern thruster installation kits may also be used with "ignition protected" thrusters.
