All Baier Hatches use the patented strongback system of securing the hatch cover to the deck. It is superior to other more complicated hatch closure systems because it is simple (only three moving parts), it is stronger, it is more reliably watertight, and it is more easily serviced (parts are readily available and replaced in the field). Each hatch has an underside escape turning bar for safety. An underside turning wheel is optional. The Cover is available in cast aluminum and can be used with Steel or Stainless Steel rings. The deck ring is available in galvanized mild steel (for welding into steel decks), or cast aluminum (for welding into aluminum decks or bolting to fiberglass or wood decks).
