We carry dock ladders with many options including fixed or removable mounts. Some dock ladders allow you to lift the ladder out of the water by either swinging the dock ladder on a hinge or by sliding the ladder up and down on its rungs or even by lifting the ladder out of the water via a cable. These options prevent marine growth from clinging to the ladder over time. Dock ladders are available in various lengths and step widths as well as material. If you are looking for a boat ladder, try our boarding ladder section.

Ladder type and length
I am looking for a ladder to install on a bulkhead (seawall). The top of the bulkhead sits approx. 6 feet above the sand; at low tide the sand is typically exposed; water can rise up to about 3 feet above the sand in high tides. Any recommendations as to model and size?
Submitted by: Ed
The difference between the International Dock Products Standard Lifting Dock Ladder and their Floating Lifting Dock Ladder is in how far they extend below the deck surface of the seawall or dock. Both ladders have two non-lifting steps or rung attached to the climbing hoops. The difference comes by how high these are built on the hoop rails that extend down the dock. The Standard Lifting Ladder has a first step or rung approximately one foot below the deck surface that the ladder is mounted on. So the two steps extend about 26" below the deck surface. The Floating Dock Lifting Ladder has a first step level with the deck surface the ladder is mounted on. So the two steps extend 14" below the deck surface. So while the Floating Dock Lifting Ladder gives you 12" of more water clearance when lifted it also shortens the reach down to or into the water. The Standard Lifting Ladder gives you ineffect an extra foot of reach down. Since you are putting this on a seawall with a six foot drop to the sand a 5 Step Floating or a 4 Step Standard Lifting Ladder should work fine. You will want to consider how high you want the ladder to lift up.. International Dock Products makes a Quick Release Kit that works with their Lifting Ladders and is used in just such cases where owners wish to remove the dock ladder during the winter or extended absences.
Ladder Length
The current distance from the floor of my dock to the water is 6’. Consequently, I need a ladder that is at least 7’ from dock floor to the bottom of the ladder. Any recommendations?
Submitted by: Tim
Take a look at this one. Part No. 88325. It’s a 7’5" ladder.
Do The Aluminum Marine Floating Dock Lift Ladders come with mounting hardware?
Submitted by: Dan Edson
No, they do not come with mounting hardware. The choice of mounting hardware is left to the installer. The appropriate fasteners will depend on the deck/float material and thickness.
Int'l Dock Ladders
Looking to install a ladder on our dock. Water depth is five feet, distance from water level to dock level is two feet. How do I choose a specific ladder length or number of steps? 3LLW, 4LLW or 5LLW?
Submitted by: Steve
Dock ladder clear the water when lifted?
The surface of our floating dock is about 11 inches above the water. Will any of the lifting ladders clear the water when lifted?
Submitted by: Perry
The closest Dock Ladder we have will need 13 1/2" of clearance.
