Description
This one is my not so subtle homage to one of my favorite band’s most popular albums. I’m betting you’ve heard of this small psychedelic band from the not so distant past. It also features the common loon, one of the far north’s most iconic and majestic aquatic birds, and one of my all time favorite ‘avian dinosaurs’. It’s scientific name is Gavia immer. It’s also called the Great Northern Diver.
Loons are known for their eery sounding call that can resemble a madman laughing in the dark, which brings to mind the term “crazy as a loon”. But that phrase may have its origins in the medieval belief that changing lunar phases can drive hapless souls to madness.
What can I say? It’s a mixed up, loony world.
